I designed a mechanical pencil with a triangular body; Inspired by the large triangular wooden pencils I used in primary school. I always found their shape to be more comfortable. After spending hundreds of hours using various mechanical pencils, I often experienced fingertip fatigue from the smaller grip diameters. This design aims to provide a more ergonomic and comfortable experience. With makers and craftsmen in mind, I incorporated features to address common challenges faced during fabrication—an enlarged clip opening to accommodate thicker workwear, a triangular body to prevent rolling, a longer tip for precision in tight spaces, and a durable milled aluminum construction to withstand daily wear and tear.

Render featuring yellow color option, labeled with my branding and lead size.
Macro render of the pencils 0.9 MM nib, and ribbed grip.
Potential CMF options; 2 featuring colored plastic clips, 2 with all metal parts. The intention is to offer the consumer a degree of customization within the more easily manufactured parts while leaving the main body the same.
Designed with my personal brand in mind, this packaging concept envisions a 100 unit production. The design features a two-part cardboard sleeve with a friction fit lid, the colored band  indicating the selected CMF option.
The wood was sanded up to 180 grit, then finished with beeswax orange oil blend and polished with a wax compound.
The final object was assembled using only a mallet.
